August 11, 2010—Raleigh, NC— Viztek, the digital radiology solution provider, has installed its Opal-RAD PACS at Strategic Imaging Consultants, PLLC, of Chapel Hill, NC. Using its new Web-based Opal PACS, the busy teleradiology practice will provide diagnostic imaging interpretation for client radiology sites throughout North Carolina. The teleradiology group services multiple private medical offices and urgent care centers with in-house imaging services, including x-ray, CT, MRI and ultrasound. It also provides reading for mobile imaging services. Viztek’s Opal-RAD allows Strategic Imaging Consultants’ radiologists to interpret studies for all client facilities from any location with internet access worldwide.
Providing MR, CT, ultrasound and nuclear medicine services, practice partner Dr. Feole is fellowship trained in body imaging, while fellow partner Dr. Dougherty is a fellowship trained neuroradiology sub-specialist. Viztek’s scalable PACS software will enable the busy practice to support an unlimited volume of new clients in all modalities. Strategic Imaging Consultants launched its teleradiology services in December 2009 and has experienced steady growth ever since.

The PACS seamlessly integrates Dragon voice-recognition software, allowing fast report turnaround and distribution. The integrated solution provides high-end voice-recognition features, such as the ability to scroll while dictating, to create measurements, or to revise scanned documents, while remaining priced with the end-user in mind.
Dr. Feole explains, “Report turn around time used to be measured in days. With integrated web-based voice recognition, reports can be issued within minutes. Once signed, they are immediately available online and are also faxed or emailed to the referring physician. On occasion, reports have been available to providers by the time they walk back to their workstation to review the images. That, of course, is my goal.”
With Opal-RAD Web-based PACS, Strategic Imaging Consultants’ radiologists have immediate and secure access to patient images and reports. As part of their innovative services, a staff radiologist is always directly available to clients by phone for discussion of a case. Using their new Opal-RAD PACS, the practice group also has the ability to provide clients with webinar-style image review. Currently, Strategic Imaging Consultants is undergoing multiple-state licensing review and is actively seeking new clients.
