November 30 2009, Chicago–Viztek, the radiology solution provider, has received FDA 510K clearance for its wireless digital radiography (DR) detector, the latest addition to its DR product portfolio. The 14×17-inch panel weighs just over 10lbs, is built with impact resistant technology to withstand the wear and tear of constant movement and is designed with a handle for a convenient and easy user experience.
Viztek’s wireless detector allows the freedom to position it at special and difficult angles and its convenient portability allows it to be moved from room to room among departments. The detector features Viztek’s tested graphic user interface (GUI) deployed throughout the entire DR product family. In facilities across the country, its ease-of-use has proven well above that of competitors. The Viztek interface is designed to allow for easy adaptation and seamless integration with the entire Viztek DR product line as well as Viztek’s line of Opal PACS and RIS solutions.
The lightweight wireless detector uses cesium iodide technology designed to reduce dose exposure, while guaranteeing high-quality images. The detector charges easily on a wall mounted docking station and produces high-resolution images within 10 seconds of exposure.
Viztek General Manager, Bruce Ashby, says, “The wireless panel clearance is a great addition to our RSNA 2009 campaign. We are excited about the timing of the 510k approval and look forward to bringing this product to market. The panel’s benefits are substantial compared to other wireless devices and we anticipate great reception of the product beginning with its appearance at this year’s RSNA.”
