May 4, 2010—Raleigh, NC—Viztek, the radiology solution provider, announces the installation of Viztek’s Opal-ORTHO PACS at Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists (SOS) in Syracuse, NY. SOS is a large multi-specialty orthopedic group consisting of 22 specialized orthopedic surgeons and 23 mid-level providers. Specialties range from sports medicine to arthroscopic surgery and knee replacement among others.
Viztek installed its Opal-ORTHO PACS designed by and for the orthopedic marketplace. The PACS includes TraumaCad templating for prosthetic preoperative planning. SOS was using another vendor’s PACS for five years prior to the install and Viztek provided data migration, requiring no interaction with the previous vendor. Viztek was also able to replicate the existing PACS interface to avoid additional charges. Additionally, Viztek integrated the Opal-ORTHO PACS solution with the facility’s existing EMR system’s modality worklist to create a seamless connection between the two. SOS has plans to update its current Practice Management System by replacing it with a new one; Viztek will also be responsible for interfacing the new solution with the PACS.
While PACS vendors often offer similar tools and features, Viztek’s PACS solution is distinguished by its speed. It also has unique functionalities and increased accessibility to frequently used tools that save users time.
The Opal-ORTHO system at SOS receives images from multiple modalities including MRI, nuclear medicine, and x-ray. The facility is completely digital and is the largest orthopedic practice in central New York. Local dealer Sywest introduced Viztek’s software to the orthopedic facility in Syracuse. Sywest’s Tom Snyder says, “SOS is a great representation of the scale that Viztek’s products can accommodate. The practice is very large with over 40 providers and the Opal-ORTHO PACS has made a great impact on improving workflow efficiency.”
