Raleigh, NC—Viztek, the digital radiology solution provider, is releasing PikoPACS, a brand new PACS product, at absolutely no cost.  Viztek’s newest offering is a member of the Opal-RAD PACS family, and even uses the same intuitive viewer.  PikoPACS is being released as a free download, available to the public from Viztek’s website (www.viztek.net).

The software features a simple one-click installer that works on most existing personal computers.  PikoPACS uses a web-browser worklist for ease of deployment, making the need for IT support unnecessary in most cases.  The product is intended for small clinics and anyone else looking for a single or multi-user PACS.  Functionalities the PikoPACS boasts are unlimited DICOM Receive, Send, and Print nodes, in addition to Patient CD Burn and even importing of outside CD’s.  Viztek’s goal for the product is to provide the urgent care market and other private practices with a terrific, scalable solution at no cost.  The product stems from the robust Opal-RAD PACS and will offer several paid-for upgrade options applicable to medium-sized facilities.

Today’s software market is changing and Viztek believes that end users are PACS-savvy and need a customizable solution.  Viztek also recognizes that the small-office market is flooded with products that may or may not have the functionality a site needs, and has decided to promote this powerful solution at no cost.  Physicians should not have to settle for glitches or cumbersome software to have an affordable solution.  The product is the first of its kind offered at absolutely no cost.

Viztek’s PikoPACS uses an FDA approved viewer, has unlimited DICOM connections, and works on almost any web-browser including Chrome, IE, and Firefox. The ultra-thin PACS viewer provides multiple users with access to exams throughout a facility, and offers upgrades such as specialized tool-sets and additional concurrent users.

VP of Sales, Steve Deaton, explains, “With capability for multiple users to view images at the same time, and no setup headaches, PikoPACS will be a great solution for the small private practice.  Even radiologists who want to read from home now have the opportunity to download Viztek’s free PACS on any computer, without the need for any additional costly hardware.”
