The Radiology Group (TRG) (Atlanta), a major high-volume national contract radiology reading group with clients and affiliated radiologists throughout the US, has selected Viztek’s Opal-RAD PACS for full image management, replacing an older PACS solution.
Poised for significant growth with an aggressive business plan, TRG needed an advanced Web-based solution to seamlessly support image communications, viewing and storage, while managing complex workflow for its virtual imaging team.

To support its high level of service and ambitious expansion plans, TRG sought a high performance PACS that would fulfill a range of specialized needs. It needed advanced features and functionalities that would handle all modalities and exams. To enable rapid image communications, the business wanted technology that would route images directly from client sites to appropriate radiologists without passing through TRG servers—and it wanted a PACS that would achieve this with minimal client-side hardware and hassles. Viztek’s Opal-RAD offered the onsite hardware and complex rules-based software that met TRG’s needs.

In addition, the system provides a range of advanced reading tools, with full integration of Dragon voice recognition and all of its features. Viztek Opal-RAD also offers advanced workflow features, such as globally updated worklists and load balancing that will help TRG manage its growing caseload. The practice also will take advantage of Viztek’s secure, scalable offsite archiving for image back up and business continuity.
