Marlborough Hospital Selects Viztek's Wireless DR Panel -

Viztek (Raleigh, NC), the complete radiology solution provider, has been selected to provide its wireless DR to Marlborough Hospital (Marlborough, MA), a member of UMassMemorial Health Care. Marlborough replaced its existing dual detector CCD technology in order to create the most efficient workflow in its Emergency Department (ED).
Marlborough Hospital extensively researched competing portable detectors , including corded and gadolinium oxysulfide options before deciding on Viztek’s wireless 14×17 cesium-iodide (CsI) panel, complete with a built in handle. Marlborough Hospital Radiology Director, Paul Riggieri explains, “In the end, our decision was based on flexibility. Viztek’s wireless detector is light and easy to maneuver from the upright stand to the table and particularly to stretchers and wheel chairs often used to transport patients into the Emergency Department.”

Viztek General Manager Bruce Ashby explains, “The wireless technology that Viztek offers creates a significantly more versatile environment than the site’s previous fixed dual detector system. The Viztek wireless detector offers enhanced productivity and efficiency for this x-ray room that is used for the general radiology needs of the hospital in addition to its primary function for emergency applications.

Marlborough Hospital is staffed by many primary care physicians and specialists, provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient medical, surgical and ancillary services, including oncology, laboratory, diagnostic imaging, physical therapy, cardiac rehabilitation, inpatient and outpatient mental health services, as well as diabetes education and management. The hospital’s state-of-the-art Emergency Department is staffed by emergency medicine physicians from UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester and provides 24-hour emergency care.
