McHenry County Orthopaedics, Crystal Lake, IL has selected the Jacksonville-based state-of-the-art digital solutions company, Viztek, to provide its Opal-ORTHO PACS and U-Arm DR to enahance practice workflow. MCO, established in 1994, has seven full time orthopedic surgeons, and delivers about 100 x-ray exams daily.
The installation of Viztek’s Opal-ORTHO PACS coincides with MCO’s preparation to open a second office location. The practice decided to replace their legacy PACS with Viztek’s Opal-ORTHO PACS, to help support a smooth and more cost-effective transition from a single site to a multi-site practice.
Manette DeCremer, Administrator, explains that the PACS is an excellent fit for the doctors needs, because the dedicated orthopedics PACS delivers a highly focused set of tools. “The software is simplified in its use and specifically designed for orthopedists, offering only the useful features these specialists need.” Additionally, the Opal software offers easy access to these features and simplifies their application. “The number of clicks needed to perform most common tasks has been reduced by up to 50%, representing a huge time saving factor.”
At the same time, MCO replaced their dated CCD-based DR with Viztek’s U-Arm DR featuring today’s leading edge Trixell plate. DeCremer highlights the vast improvement in image quality as well as the convenience. “When treating a child, for example” she says “a special DR feature identifies the patient as a child and the settings are automatically adjusted accordingly.” Viztek’s DR and Opal-ORTHO PACS have directly enhanced McHenry County Orthopaedics’ workflow optimizing the doctors’ time.
