March 2, 2011—Raleigh, NC—Paris Orthopedics, a multi-physician sub-specialty practice in Paris, TX, has selected Viztek’s Opal-ORTHO andU-Arm digital radiography (DR) solution for its busy orthopedic imaging suite.  After examining offerings from more than five competing vendors, the site selected the fully integrated Viztek solution for its advanced features and affordable price.

“Viztek gave us truly cutting edge technology at significantly less cost than competing solutions,” commented David Eisele, Paris Orthopedics Administrator.  “We were pleased with the entire sales and installation process, and everyone in the practice is extremely happy with the results.”

Paris Orthopedics is one of the largest providers of comprehensive surgical and non-surgical orthopedic/musculoskeletal services in Northeast Texas and Southeast Oklahoma.  Its team of board certified orthopedic surgeons all have advanced training and are committed to using the latest orthopedic techniques and technologies, including in their imaging suite.

Prior to the Viztek installation, the practice relied on two analog x-ray machines, darkroom and large hard copy file room. Paris Orthopedics has been seeing patients for over 40 years, and as a result, the additional space required to store the x-rays had become very limited.  When DR technology reached a price point that made sense given the practice’s 1200 exam monthly volume, Eisele began examining DR solutions.  “Not only was the Viztek PACS/DR solution itself our first choice, but we were extremely impressed by Viztek’s responsive service.  We were confident that their solution would be backed by a true commitment to meet our comprehensive needs, and it has been,” said Eisele.

Today, the Paris Orthopedic X-ray room hums with new efficiency.  Exams are conducted 60 to 70 percent faster than with analog equipment.  The practice has been able to cut radiology technologist staff hours in half by eliminating the darkroom and film filing and streamlining the exam process.  Additionally, the practice’s older analog machine required costly maintenance, while Viztek delivers exams consistently and reliably.  The device is already beginning to deliver clear return on investment.

“Our easy-to-use, affordable PACS and DR technologies have proven benefits for specialty markets such as orthopedics,” according to Steve Deaton, Viztek Vice President of Sales.  ”With many solutions, however, cost justification can be a significant issue given the low volume use.  However, Viztek is committed to bringing the benefits of the technology to a full range of medical practices.  Paris Orthopedics provides an excellent example of how we have made the advanced imaging equipment work for a specialty clinic.”

Eisele notes that system set up and training was extremely efficient, and the practice began using the technology immediately.  “There is absolutely nothing about the Viztek solution we don’t like,” he said.  “The image quality is great.”
