June 24, 2010—Raleigh, NC—Viztek, the complete digital imaging solution provider, has signed an agreement with Crystal Lake Orthopedics (CLO) in Crystal Lake, Ill. for the installation of its web-based Opal-ORTHO PACS at the multi-service orthopedic facility. Until now, Crystal Lake had relied on a legacy Viztek ONYX-RAD client-server PACS.. But recent growth and a repositioning of the practice prompted a need for an upgrade to a more robust system with specific orthopedic tools.
“In addition to the specialized orthopedic tools–including measurement tools and surgical templating–that benefit every orthopedic practice, we felt the upgrade to a web-based system would better support our orthopedic center as it has evolved today,” said Edward Grogg, Executive Director of Crystal Lake Orthopedics. “A web-based system enables practice members to read images offsite from any web-enabled computer as if they were in their own office. It also enables easy image communication to other physicians for any additional specialized interpretation required. Transmission of images to referring physicians also is easier and faster.”
Prior to selecting the Viztek orthopedic solution, Crystal Lake Orthopedics, the five physician practice, conducted a search of a variety of orthopedics vendors. “Naturally, we were already familiar with Viztek PACS solutions, their ease-of-use and strong client support,” said Dr. Steve Rochell, Practice Founder. “And we found that Viztek still continues to offer strong value and performance in products with a rapid return on investment.”
With the new system, CLO will not only enjoy flexible reading locations and enhanced image communications, but also easy, automatic program upgrades over the Internet, minimal need for in-house IT support and the ability to store images offsite, as desired.
