Raleigh, NC—Viztek, the digital radiology solution provider, is furthering their release of PikoPACS, a new PACS product, at absolutely no cost. Viztek’s offer is a member of the Opal-RAD PACS family, and even uses the same intuitive viewer. PikoPACS is available as a free download to the public from Viztek’s website (www.viztek.net).

PikoPACS debuted this past August, and downloads of the popular new browser-based PACS have been equally divided between private medical centers, including urgent care, multi-specialty and radiology groups, and individual radiologists using the viewer at home or other off-site locations. A significant number of international users have turned to the free viewer, and PikoPACS is now officially in use on every continent.

Steve Deaton, Vice President of Sales, points out that digital radiology has become the norm, and even small radiology departments need a PACS, yet may be unable to support the typical financial investment required. Moreover, physicians in other specialties who even infrequently work with images need a DICOM viewing and archiving application. “PikoPACS is a great fit for these doctors,” he says.

Viztek’s PikoPACS uses an FDA approved viewer, has unlimited DICOM connections, and works on almost any web-browser including Chrome, IE, and Firefox. The ultra-thin PACS viewer provides multiple users with access to exams throughout a facility, and offers upgrades such as specialized tool-sets and additional concurrent users.

PikoPACS is an excellent solution for a wide range of users, from general physicians to imaging specialists who need a second solution for work outside of their main locations,” said Deaton. Furthermore, it provides an excellent introduction to the full range of Viztek’s advanced imaging technologies at no cost. Our goal with this product is to give back a great, no-cost PACS to the small market where we originally emerged from. Our success in large facilities has surpassed our expectations.
