Merry X-Ray Installs Viztek’s Opal-ORTHO PACS at Precision Orthopedics’ New Facility in Salinas, CA

March 11, 2009 – Jacksonville, FL – Precision Orthopedics in Salinas, CA has selected Viztek’s Opal-ORTHO PACS for digital image management. Viztek dealer, Merry X-Ray in San Francisco, completed the installation for the seven-physician orthopedic practice.  Precision Orthopedics caters to a diverse patient base with physicians trained for a broad spectrum of anatomical specialties.

Before the installation, the group worked in a much smaller facility, with one standard x-ray room. All exams were film-based and storage began to take a toll on the existing space.  In December of 2008, the practice moved to larger quarters and went live with Viztek’s Opal-ORTHO PACS and a CR unit. Robert Deleon, Precision Orthopedic Business Manager says, “Going digital has completely modernized the way the facility functions. Simple tasks that prior to the conversion had been daunting are now done with ease. Workflow has improved so much during the past two months that it’s hard to believe how we functioned before the PACS and CR.”

Opal-ORTHO PACS is fully Web-based and offers a highly specialized tool-set developed exclusively for the orthopedic practice. Industry-favorite, TraumaCAD templating is integrated in the software and comes standard with all major manufacturers’ templates. Additionally, Merry X-Ray’s Corporate Director of Imaging, Jeff Root, was able to devise an easy solution to access MRI reports from offsite radiologists within the Opal-ORTHO PACS. Root says, “I am pleased to have been able to make MRIs from external sources available in the Precision Orthopedics PACS network.
